In Gratitude

Simpler Living Creation Care Ministry:

We are saddened at the death of Pope Francis, who, through his strong faith, brought attention to the importance of our relationship to Creation and to the sin of disregard for Earth: not only to the Roman Catholic Community but the entire world. May his memory be a blessing, as well as an inspiration to act on our faith to care for Creation.

On Earth Day, California Interfaith Power and Light featured “Canopy” Meg Lowman was featured in a discussion on the importance of trees and her work throughout the world on expanding tree canopies. “Trees are critical, no just for the climate, but for life itself.” You can watch the webinar on YouTube (Click Here).

They also shared this Earth Day prayer:

We hold our human family who suffer from storms and droughts intensified by climate change.

We hold all species that suffer.

We hold world leaders delegated to make decisions for life.

We pray that the web of life may be mended through courageous actions to limit carbon emissions.

We pray that love and wisdom might inspire my actions and our actions as communities; to that we may, with integrity, look into the eyes of all beings and truthfully say, we are doing our part to care for them and the future of the children.

May love transform us and our world with new steps toward life. Amen.

Environmental organizations like CIPL and 350.org that educate and empower us are being threatened in this current crisis for democracy, so please support them however you can.
