Sacred Ground In Action Initiative
The First celebration known as Flag Day was held in Hartford, CT in 1861, another time of turmoil in our national history (as that was also the year the civil war broke out). On June 14 the Committee for the First Amendment will be hosting Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment, an uplifting evening of song, solidarity, and action. Featuring an all-star line-up—Bette Midler, Patti Smith, and Julia Roberts—this 90-minute concert event will celebrate the freedoms to all guaranteed by our First Amendment.
Responding to recent injustices towards immigrants and refugees, TEC “Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe has said that immigrants are not at the edges [of God’s kingdom] but at the very center of God’s story. ‘We believe their struggles reveal the heart of God, and we cannot worship freely if some among us live in fear.’” View article (Click Here)
