A Letter From Wayne Riehm: Communications at St. Paul’s

Hello St. Paul’s

My name is Wayne Riehm and I’ve been your communications coordinator since 2018! My role is to connect the transformative work happening here with our congregation and beyond. How do I do this?

If you’ve clicked through from our weekly ENEWS, then you’ve already seen a bit of what I do! I’m responsible for putting that together each week, along with keeping our website up-to-date and making sure our messaging stays clear, welcoming, and consistent across every platform.

You’ve probably seen my work in other places too—whether it’s the banners around campus, social media posts, or even direct mailers for those who live in the area. I’m especially busy during our major seasons of Lent/Easter, Advent and the annual pledge campaign, which requires website updates, printed collateral, banners, updates to signage and more! Not to mention our many special events like Pride, Blessing of the Animals, Veterans Evensong, Movie Nights and more! Back in 2020, I helped launch the current version of our website, and during the pandemic, I coordinated our transition to Zoom for both staff and ministry meetings so we could stay connected even while apart.

I often think of my role as a kind of in-house marketing team for the mission and ministries of St. Paul’s. My goal is to support and amplify the amazing things you all are doing—making sure our message reaches hearts both within and beyond our walls.

But as much as I do, I’m very fortunate to have the help and support of the rest of our incredible staff.

My direct supervisor, Richard Hogue, supports me in all that I do. He often proofs content, serves as a sounding board for my crazy ideas and even fills in for me when I need some vacation time.

I work very closely with my communications college Susan Jester, producing much of the direct marketing efforts to our local community, usually in the form of door hangers, direct mailers, newspaper ads, and digital ads. Her insight and experience are an asset to our evangelism efforts.

More recently I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with our newest staff member Angel Mannion, our Choir Conductor and Music Assistant. Angel is full of enthusiasm and fresh ideas for the music department, and it has been my pleasure to support him in the production of supporting collateral.

And of course, the rest of our staff team who I regularly work with. I can always count on Judy to have events scheduled on our calendar, months, sometimes years, in advance. I regularly harass Brooks and Martin for service details and bulletins, which feed into our website and weekly email. Kathleen is an organizational guru and helps us all keep a work-life balance. Wes, beyond being our accountant, provides me with details on what outside organizations are doing on campus. Jen and our sextons regularly assist me in putting up signage. Penny’s unparalleled eye for detail is invaluable when reviewing much of what I produce.

I’m very thankful to work with such an amazing team and to serve such a loving, charitable and active congregation!

Wayne Riehm
Communications Coordinator

P.S. My wife Jaclyn and I have been blessed with a third child, a baby girl, who is due some time in September. We thank God that our family is growing! Please also pray for us, as my wife and I will be outnumbered by our little rascals!

  1. Thank you for all you do. You keep me in touch with my “home” Church. It’s been a while, but St Paul’s lives in my heart for always. I thank you all for the YouTube streaming of the Sunday Mass. I never miss it!
