The Season of Creation is observed by Christians all over the world as a way to honor and care for God’s creation. Below is what St. Paul’s Cathedral is doing during this season:
Sunday, September 6
- 8 & 10:30 am – Feast of Creation Services
- 12 pm – Simpler Living Ministry Sponsored Coffee Hour, Advocacy Tabling – legislative Impact Opportunity
Sunday, September 13
- 12 pm – Good Goats! Fundraising and Advocacy Tabling
Through Episcopal Relief and Development, you can give the gift of a goat to families in need. Why a goat? Goats are hardy, adaptable to a variety of climates, and produce staples such as milk, cheese and manure for farming. Let’s see how many goats St. Paul’s can send to Episcopal Relief & Development to help feed hungry children around the world! Each person who donates will receive a Goat stuffed animal (see photo)! We will set up a table at coffee hour (either Guild Room or Great Hall, depending on weather) where you can purchase goats in person on Sunday, September 13 and 20.
Saturday, September 19
- 9 am – 12 pm, Coastal Cleanup Day – Join hundreds of thousands of volunteers all over the world to remove pollution from our ecosystems! Register with Carolyn: carolynglief@gmail.com
Sunday, September 20
- Season of Creation/International Day of Peace
- 9 am Forum: Peace Like a River: Sister Water, Conflict and Cooperation in Our World – Dr. Christina Bagaglio-Slentz, Associate Director, Creation Care, Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego (Click Here for Details)

- 9 am Forum: The Coastline of Water & Faith – Dr. Jenni Brandonis a PhD marine biologist and science communicator. (Click Here for Details)

Friday, October 2
- 12 pm Holy Eucharist & Pet Memorial – Noon Eucharist for those pets who have passed on. The memorial service offers prayer, Scripture, and sharing of those pets who have passed away. Feel free to bring a framed photograph of your late loved one to be placed in this service.
Sunday, October 4
- 9 am Forum – Following Francis in God’s World
- 10:30 am – Blessing of the Animals (Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi)
Bring your furry, feathered or scaled friend to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral for a blessing from our priests! Each year St. Paul’s Cathedral honors Saint Francis of Assisi, known as the patron saint of animals, with our annual Blessing of the Animals Event where we invite you to bring your pet to our 10:30 am worship service and offer them a blessing afterward in the courtyard. Anyone (regardless of religious affiliation) is welcome to attend this event in its entirety. (Details)
