Saving Our National Parks

Simpler Living Creation Care Ministry:

John Muir once said, “Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, a place to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike.” Today hundreds of national parks are at risk. Severe budget cuts could force many to completely close.

On Thursday, May 22 the National Parks Conservation Association will offer a Zoom Virtual Park Talk to discuss the latest threats and ways to advocate against these threats. For our health – physical, mental and spiritual – and the health of the planet, we can’t lose these national treasures!

What would the world be, once bereft

Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left,

O let them be left, wildness and wet;

Lone live the weeds and the wilderness yet.

From Inversnaid by Gerard Manley Hopkins, 1881
