Simpler Living: Creation Care Ministry
Good words are worth repeating. As we draw near the shortest day of the year – and the longest night – and another year’s end, consider this O Antiphon, the “rising dawn:”
“O Rising Dawn, Brightness of the light eternal, sun of righteousness: Come and enlighten those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death”
In 2020, when the world was bleak with the burden of a fearful disease, Simpler Living shared a reflection from St Mark’s Episcopal Church, Seattle. Once more in 2025 our world is bleak with increased injustice, violence, and hatred causing fear, disillusion, and despondence. Yet the light will increase day by day as the cycles of life rest and then renew. Peace flows, if only from our hearts.
How glorious you bare in the triumph of the season. Every creature awakes to new life and joyfully sings your praises with a thousand tongues: you are the source of life, the conqueror of death….Glory to you for surrounding us with tens of thousands of your works. Glory to you for the depth of your wisdom: the whole world is a living sign of it…. Glory to you for setting before us the dazzling light of your eternal beauty….Glory to you O Holy God, from age to age. Amen
