Make Note and Take Action For the Ocean

From St. Paul’s Simpler Living Creation Care Ministry:

As faithful followers of Jesus, we are called to care for creation.  Here are two resources, the first especially relevant to Ocean Awareness Month.

In response to UN Sustainable Development goals the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference is being held in Nice, France this week with the theme of “accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainable use the ocean. The heads of state and government document reported, “We share one ocean and remain gravely concerned with the global emergency it faces [from]…climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.” Despite the absence of US participation, we can view the site and recommendations and actions following the Conference (Click Here).

And here’s an action you can take before June 20.

Those who live on contested land should have a voice to give evidence in dispute of land use within a reasonable timeframe. To make gas and oil extraction easier to commence, a newly proposed rule would allow oil, gas, and mining companies to fast-track projects on federal lands with minimal oversight. The Department of the Interior wants to slash environmental reviews from several months down to just 28 days—and cut public comment periods to a mere 10 days.
