Sunday Morning Forums
Sunday morning forums take place every week at 9 am in the Guild Room of St. Paul’s (unless otherwise specified). Speakers and topics vary, here’s the first quarter’s schedule:
January 7 – Meet the Chapter Candidates, presented by Dean’s Warden Darien DeLorenzo
January 14 – The Cathedral Budget, presented by Cathedral Controller Erin Sacco Pineda
January 21 – A Celebration of Local Authors, introduced by Dean Penny, featuring a number of parishioner-authors.
January 28 – No forum, but stay for lunch and the Annual Parish Meeting at noon.
February 4 – Local author and Methodist minister Rev. John Fanestil on his book American Heresy: The Roots and Reach of White Christian Nationalism
February 11 – Local author, professor, and parishioner Mary Doak on her latest book A Prophetic, Public Church: a Witness to Hope Amid the Global Crises of the Twenty-First Century
February 18 to March 17 – Lent Series studying local author, professor, and parishioner Peter Bolland’s book The Seven Stone Path: An Everyday Journey to Wisdom
March 24 – Palm Sunday – No Forum
March 31 – Easter Day – No Forum
April 7 to 28 – Creation Care forum series, sponsored by our Simpler Living ministry
Lent Offerings
February 14 is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Join us this day for Ashes-to-Go, where small groups from St. Paul’s spread out across the city to offer ashes and prayers in the streets. Email Susan Jester (jesters@stpaulcathedral.org) to sign up.
Starting February 19 (Monday nights 7 – 8:30 pm, in person) – Book Study: So We and Our Children May Live: Following Jesus in Confronting the Climate Crisis by Sarah Augustine, led by our Simpler Living ministers.
Starting February 21 (Wednesday nights 6:30 – 8 pm, Virtually on Zoom) – Book Study: The Nonviolent God, by J. Denny Weaver, led by the Rev. Carol Worthing
Starting February 21 (Wednesday nights 7 – 8:30 pm, in person) – “What is an Episcopalian?” held at St. Paul’s and led by Cathedral clergy.
