Hello St. Paul’s,
Last Sunday the cathedral celebrated a milestone event in our history as we dedicated and blessed the Music Center. For the first time, our beloved and excellent music ministry has a home of its own, with rehearsal space, vesting closets, and the sheet music library all in one safe accessible space. During the dedication the cathedral choir sang Bruckner’s exquisite anthem “Locus Iste”: “This place was made by God, a priceless sacrament; it is without reproach”. Afterwards, choir members shared their delight in the acoustic which allows them to hear each part as they sing together, an important element of rehearsal. With a few last touches to the security system, the center will be opened for regular use very soon.
I can’t say enough to express my gratitude to Canon Richard Hogue, capital campaign co-chairs Rockette Ewell and Russ Okihara, and the many people who gave generously so that this Music Center could become a reality. Throughout the project we enjoyed an excellent relationship with our architects, DomusStudio, and the general contractor Hoffman and Associates. The Music Center will be a valuable resource for decades to come, not only for our own musicians but for groups in the community. It feels very good to have completed this important project!
Here’s a video of the dedication ceremony for your enjoyment (click here).
See you on Sunday.
Your sister in Christ,
Penny
