When we launched our Stewardship Campaign this year, we were deeply inspired by 1 Peter 4:10: “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.”
As a Cathedral community, we are deeply blessed to have a gifted congregation that helps us fully live into our mission to love Christ, serve others and welcome all—a herculean task that our world is so desperately in need of.
While I sought to keep myself occupied this week, I happened to be scrolling through social media posts, and one in particular caught my attention. Naturally, it was a site that was selling apparel. While annoying, it was the message that caught my eye. It was a basic t-shirt that on the front had the message: “you are enough.” On the back of the shirt, it said “Dear person behind me, the world is a better place with you in it. Love, the person in front of you.” This sank in deeply, and honestly, made me think of each of you—who through your devotion of time, talent and treasure help us live into our covenant of building God’s kingdom and making this earthly world a better place.
Your generosity has helped us accomplish so much. So many people have been touched by the mission and ministry of St. Paul’s. We welcome visitors by creating a warm and inviting space, we provide meals and hospitality as we celebrate our communal life together, and we offer dignity and acceptance to our unhoused neighbors. Each of you in your own way have helped us make our community a better place.
As we look forward to 2026, I invite each of you to join me in sharing your various gifts to help us continue and expand our vital role in the San Diego community. Truly, our community and our world so desperately need what the people of St. Paul’s can do. You may make your 2026 Pledge by visiting https://stpaulcathedral.org/my-pledge/
My brothers and sisters in Christ, please know that at St. Paul’s, you are enough; the varied gifts you bring to this community are enough; and through your unwavering commitment of time, talent and treasure, you are truly making our community and world a better place.
I am deeply grateful for each of you.
Faithfully,
Demetreus Gregg Stewardship Chair
