In our Lenten book study on Robin Wall Kimmerer’s The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World, we are not only learning from the author’s wisdom about the importance of the gift economy as a challenge to capitalism and a way repair some of the harm done by corporate greed but also the wisdom of our participants. So far, among so much more, we’ve shared
- where to find great food and kitchenware that benefits low-income students in culinary education (Kitchens for Good)
- how to speak with our dollars by not spending them outside local markets, or not at all! (A Rocha USA)
- ways that giving of our interests and talents can initiate bartering opportunities (ask Joan Reese!)
The community of our book study offers hope in the climate crisis, as does our community of St Paul’s in these challenging times.
Once again, St Paul’s will be celebrating Earth Month with Creation Care Sunday on April 27, a guided walk, and community gardening opportunity in South County. For more information (Click Here)
