Sacred Ground in Action (SGIA) & Simpler Living Creation Care Ministry:
What affects one of us, affects all of us. If you’ve attended or seen recent rallies and marches, it’s clear that the dizzying number of social justice issues make it hard to focus on, or prioritize, what is most important. The problem is, they ALL are important to people of faith!
We need to remember that community is powerful, and we must stand alongside our Indigenous neighbors and communities of concern in confronting the rollback of so many unjust policies. As stated in Self-Determined: Climate Resilience is Sacred:
“Every community should be asking: How can we become more climate resilient? How can we build mutual aid networks that support people during climate disasters? How can we use climate action as a tool for broader social change and economic empowerment? How does our existing work shift if we look at it through a climate justice lens?” Read the entire article here.
Climate activists sometimes say that good works for social justice will mean little if the Earth can’t sustain human life. By returning to the sacred – God, faith, community, and the planet that nurtures all of God’s Creation – may we find resilience together in the face of chaos.
