From St. Paul’s Sacred Ground in Action (SGIA) Ministry:
While we await the re-gathering of our regular SGIA meetings at the Cathedral, here is an example of an EDSD Sacred Ground group that has also found a way to continue the community they formed after their ten-month series.
The group comprised of folks from Christ Church Coronado, Holy Cross Carlsbad, St Andrews in Encinitas, St John’s in Chula Vista, and St Paul’s began some time after our Cathedral’s initial ten-session series held at the same time as many other churches across the country, with over 100 participants in ten groups. Not only does the group now meet monthly for Sacred Ground-related book discussions; they also meet to share a meal together and enjoy one another’s company.
Here are a few of the books they’ve discussed:
- The Night Is Long But Light Comes in the Morning: Meditations for Racial Healing by Dr. Catherine Meeks
- Ladder to the Light: An Indigenous Elder’s Meditations on Hope and Courage by Steven Charleston
- Creativity: Where the Divine and the Human Meet by Matthew Fox
