Thanksgiving With Intention

Sacred Ground In Action (SGIA)

Honoring Native History This Week, This Month, and Always Next Thursday, friends and family will gather for annual celebrations of gratitude and togetherness. First Nations Development Institute encourages people “to hold space during this time for healing and acknowledging the rich traditions of Indigenous communities. As Native American Heritage Month continues, and as you celebrate next Thursday with turkey and trimmings, consider other ways to remember the true history of Thanksgiving:

  • Cook with intention, using Native ingredients or recipes.
  • Honor the land with a walk or moment of gratitude.
  • Create space for talking about culture, history, and family.”
