Canon Martin Green

Cathedral Organist and Canon for Music

Organist and Choirmaster Martin Green is a native San Diegan who has trained and spent his entire musical career here. He has prepared choirs and accompanied for such notable conductors as Sir David Wilcocks, John Rutter, David Flood, Martin Neary, and Duiane Wolfe. As an organist, Martin has played as both solo performer and accompanist throughout the US, as well as Mexico, Canada, and England. He has won several awards from the American Guild of Organists and appeared on NPR’s “Pipedreams Live!” He also serves as the Associate Music Director of the San Diego Master Chorale.

Gabriel Arregui

Sub-Organist and Assistant Choirmaster

Assistant Organist, Gabriel Arregui,  has appeared in recital with sopranos Julianne Baird and Rosa Lamoreaux, and violinist Elizabeth Blumenstock. He has taught 18th-century counterpoint at his undergraduate alma mater, and earned his M.Mus in Collaborative Piano at USC. He has appeared both as harpsichordist and organist in the Baroque Music Festival of Corona del Mar since 1994, as soloist and in chamber music. He was one of the organists who played at the 1983 service of Choral Matins at St Paul’s with HM Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh in attendance. 

Nicholas Halbert

Artist in Residence

Nicholas Halbert is an organist and sacred musician based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is currently completing a doctorate with Kimberly Marshall at Arizona State University. He holds a Bachelors in Organ Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he studied organ with Nathan Laube as well as fortepiano and harpsichord with Edoardo Bellotti. Following that Nicholas spent four years in Dallas, studying organ performance with Stefan Engels and liturgical organ playing with Scott Dettra while at Southern Methodist University – earning a Masters and a Performers Diploma.
 
Nicholas has been involved in the Anglican choral tradition for nearly twenty years, growing up singing at St. Paul’s Cathedral in their Boys Choir, and serving as the Organ Scholar there for two years. He has maintained an active relationship with the cathedral since leaving, as a frequent recitalist and organist during school breaks. One of his most recent appearances was as the conductor of the Spring Concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the St. Paul’s Cathedral Chorister programs in 2019.
