Sacred Ground In Action Initiative

Whether it’s called Freedom, Jubilee, Liberation, Emancipation, or Black Independence Day, Juneteenth commemorates the day – June 19, 1865 – when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned from US Major General Gordon Granger that they were free. The first Juneteenth was celebrated in 1866 in Texas with prayer, food, music, and speeches. Read more (Click Here)
