Native American Heritage Month: At a Sunday Service, at the Kitchen Table

Sacred Ground In Action (SGIA)

In a 2017 Kenyon Review interview, the Indigenous poet Joy Harjo said “Listening is the essential skill necessary for any knowledge and science or art. We go back to the kitchen table. Along with listening is acknowledging what you’re hearing and following through with the knowledge or instructions or insights given. To learn to listen is one of my life’s lessons.”

Listen to the many-faceted wisdom in her poem Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings. Then, as we try after Sunday sermons, let’s make an effort to incorporate these wise words into our lives.
