We welcome three new part-time staff members to St. Paul’s:
Dr. Orlando Espin serves as Latino and Multicultural Missioner, preaching at the Spanish services, working to build up the Spanish-speaking part of our congregation, and offering theology classes. Orlando is Emeritus University Professor of theology and religious studies at the University of San Diego, where he taught for three decades. Orlando was a pioneer of U.S. Latinoax theology. He has specialized in the study of “popular” religions, and in the theological study of culture, interculturality and traditioning, and has published extensively across the world in his chosen fields.
Salvador Arce Guerra joins us as Latino Ministry Worship and Education Assistant, working with Maya Little-Saña on formation for our Latino families. Salvador is a professional musician and has studied theology in the Dominican Republic, Spain, and the US. Salvador moved to San Diego just before the pandemic and is in discernment regarding ordained ministry.
Susan Jester brings her skills and experience to the position of Evangelism and Incorporation Coordinator, overseeing our welcome and new member ministry in addition to her ministry of external relations for St. Paul’s. Susan comes from an evangelical background; is a longtime leader in the San Diego LGBTQ+ community; and has worked on many political campaigns.
