Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated to you and then use us, we pray, as you will, and always to your glory and the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As you consider your pledge – whether it’s your very first time or whether you’ve been pledging for years – I strongly urge that you take time to pray. Pray about the many blessings that God has bestowed onto you as well as the gift of this Cathedral and its family. One prayer that I have found particularly comforting is the Prayer of Self-Dedication from the Book of Common Prayer. For me it really brings home this idea, that all that we are, all that we have, and all that we do, should be dedicated to God. I would be delighted to hear your thoughts.
