St. Paul's Gives Back
Like any family, St. Paul’s has to operate within a budget to accomplish its mission and ministry goals. Each year, the Cathedral’s Chapter, through its finance committee, plans a budget and evaluates each expense in light of our overriding mission and our expected pledge offerings.
This year, the Cathedral’s budget must increase 16.5%, or $200,000, in order to meet its program goals as we seek to strengthen out commitment to Love and Serve – each other and the world.
To Love…
While nowhere near an exhaustive list, the following are some of the “in-reach” programs of the cathedral – ministry areas where we care
for each other.
Pastoral Care
Ministering to each other in times of need through clergy, the Pastoral Care office and our Cathedral Nurse.
Events & Activities - Fellowship Ministry
Connecting and supporting each other through small groups such as
Women’s Dinner Group and Urban Collective, bible study and foyer
groups and through special events like the Homecoming Picnic.
Christian Formation
Learning about God and each other through our excellent Forum
Series and Sunday Bible Study, through in-depth series like What is an
Episcopalian? and Via Media as well as teaching the next generation
through Godly Play, Cathedral Teens and more.
Communication
Staying informed through announcements, the website and the
e-Bulletin and keeping us connected during events like the wild fires.
…and Serve
The following are just a few of the ways the Cathedral gives back through
“outreach” to the community, at home and abroad.
Uptown / Alpha Project / Episcopal Community Services
Feeding, clothing and sheltering those in need in our neighborhood
and community.
Dorcas House
Extending ministry across the border to teach and shelter children
whose parents cannot take care of them.
Episcopal Relief & Development
Reaching out to a hurting world through our support of ERD.
Mission Share Fund
Through our diocese, we support mission congregations in the poor
neighborhoods as well those congregations who lost membership
because of their commitment to inclusion.
Did you know?
Two important “in-reach” programs come “on budget” for the first time in 2008.
Cathedral Nurse – A vital part of our pastoral care team, was previously supported through a grant.
Director of Membership & Development – Was previously funded through a bequest.
